“The final messenger of the God, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was taken on an astounding two-part journey known as Isra & Meraaj. Analysis of his (pbuh) celestial voyage in Isra & Meraaj (The Outer Stairways towards the Lord of the Universes), led us to the inner spiritual journey of the common man. Upon further examination, a pandora’s box of questions regarding reality emerged. Little did we know that the answers to these questions lay buried in the Meraaj of Prophet Abraham (as) and his innocent story involving the star, moon and sun.
Why are there so many paths when a single source is the foundation of reality? Why do multiple manifestations of the One Reality exist? Why are there monotheistic, pantheistic, atheistic, and polytheistic beliefs? How did shirk originate?
These must have been the pressing questions that young Prophet Abraham (as) from Ur, felt deep within. Delving into his (as) journey and tracing each stage of his (as) experiences up to his (as) sudden enlightenment will provide answers to all of these questions and offer distinctive perspectives on the nature of reality.
The story of Prophet Abraham’s (as) Meraaj is a powerful narrative that cannot be fully grasped or truly appreciated through logical reasoning alone. Those who analyse it through intellectual premises intuitively recognise that there is a deeper dimension to it. This is because it serves as the blueprint for an authentic spiritual or metaphysical experience, and therefore, it must be approached from a spiritual standpoint. Understanding its profound depth will lead us to look into how the Devil actually spoke the truth about the Soul in order to deceive Adam (as) at the Forbidden Tree.
