About the book

The book deals with an evaluation of infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh and its impact on the quality of life with special reference to Bhopal city. Besides, the commonly used HDI, the study makes an attempt to rank the districts of the state by constructing Infrastructure Index for both rural and urban based on Census data of 2011. The work undertakes to identify the determinants of quality of life and to examine its relationship with infrastructure along with a measure of the satisfaction, human freedom, distress and aspiration levels of both city and outgrowth households of Bhopal. The sample survey conducted aims to register the perception of the households on availability, sufficiency, accessibility and quality of existing socio-economic infrastructure in their area seeking to understand their existing infrastructure related problems, areas of satisfaction and dissatisfaction and suggesting how changes may make their well-being more effective and useful so as to reach to a higher order of quality of life along with an inclusive local governance.
