About the book

The book entitled THE WORLD OF PORTMANTEAU WORDS, first published in 2011, gave a head start to me. It has sold well and has won me accolades. Since language is fluid and it evolves at a faster pace, many newer words would have crept in to the usage. So the first edition of the book needed another edition to accommodate newer words coined since then. Of course, it retains the same structure as the original edition which is to provide all necessary information about each of the words such as the part of speech it belongs to, the parts it is made up of, its meaning, a representative image wherever possible, and its usage in a sentence. It also has not effected any change to the structure of the entries thus making them appear in alphabetical order, commonly found with any dictionary. How ever, it is different from its original avatar in more ways than one: i) it contains newly coined words (updated until June 2022) to keep you updated with your love for words ii) it contains a review of the first edition so as to give you a fair idea of what it deals with iii) it has also added many more words to the previous edition taking the total count to over 1200 words drawn from al- most every sphere with the aim to give you a comprehen- sive list of hitherto new words with the sole purpose of saving you from the trouble of browsing/looking up various sources.
