Description
“The Afternoon” is the third book in the series ‘Marathon Race to Acche Din’, which reflects the author’s observations, thoughts and feelings on the 5 years of the National Democratic Alliance (II) government that took office on May 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 3rd year of Modi Sarkar i.e. ‘The Afternoon’ of the ‘Marathon Race to Acche Din’ had witnessed the phase when the old normal was pushed out to usher in a new normal in the socio-economic and foreign policies. The heat wave of demonetisation would be recorded in the history of India as a time when the nation did not collapse due to sun stroke. One thing is for sure: the perception of India having an incorruptible, strong and decisive leader does not fade away with time and that the spirit of Indian Democracy (Lok Tantra) triumphs over party politics by the passing of the GST Bill which Prime Minister Modi termed as a “victory of high democratic principles, victory of all political parties”. So far, Modi Sarkar still maintains the image of a corruption-free government trying to live up to Modi’s theme of “Sab ka saath sab ka vikaas”. However, the fringe elements continue to tarnish Modi Sarkar’s image both nationally and internationally. For three years, despite the loopholes in the system, Modi has tried to work and live up to his mantra to “Reform, Perform and Transform”. Hopefully, as the nation enters the fourth year (Evening) of Modi Sarkar, the citizens will get a respite from the searing hot pain of surgery.
