About the book

The book entitled”Textbook of Pharmacognosy” prepare for the benefit of students of a Diploma in pharmacy. The content of this book has been prepared in accordance with the new syllabus prescribed in ER-2020, Pharmacy Council of India created a need to interpret the new syllabus in a meaningful manner so that it can provide proper guidance for both teachers and students.
The book is mainly prepared for diploma in pharmacy first-year students in a systematic way giving the complete details of natural crude drugs, herbal cosmetics, alternative systems of medicines, nutraceuticals, health foods. The content of the subject matter is presented in a precise and simple language supported by tables, and diagrams.
Specific emphasis is given on the fundamental concepts in the evaluation of crude drugs, the importance of quality control, occurrence, distribution, isolation, identification tests of common phytoconstituents, the role of nutraceuticals in the maintenance of health. Systematic addition of the details of biological origin, active constituents and therapeutic efficacy of crude in common diseases and ailments.
