Shimla: Serenity’s Golden Beauty invites you on a journey through the captivating landscapes, rich history, and scholarly pursuits that define this Himalayan haven. Having been honoured with the prestigious fellowship from Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Niwas, Shimla, I had the privilege of spending one month immersing myself in its enriching environment. In this book, I share my experiences to emphasize the importance of truly understanding the essence of Shimla, highlighting how the establishment of IIAS embodies a multifaceted vision aimed at fostering intellectual exploration and societal progress.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Kunjikannan R., a native of Thiruvananthapuram, is a Professor in the Department of Physical Education at Government College, Mokeri, Kozhikode. With a robust academic background from institutions such as the Sports Authority of India , Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, he holds degrees in Physical Education (BPEd, MPEd, Ph.D.), an LLB from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, and multiple master’s degrees (MBA in Tourism, IT, Project Management, MSW). He has also earned diplomas in e-governance and yoga.
With over 21 years of teaching experience, Dr. Kunjikannan R was honored with the National Best Teacher Award (2018) by the Physical Education Foundation of India and an associateship from the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS). His journey reflects an unwavering dedication to education and excellence.
