Description
Time flies and here comes “The Dusk”, the final book in the 5-book series ‘Marathon Race to Acche Din’. The series of books reflects the author’s perspectives and feelings on the current affairs of the country during the 5 years of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (II) government that took office since May 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Das Modi.
The first year of the Marathon Race to Achhe Din was “The Dawn”. The second, third and fourth years were “The Morning”, “The Afternoon” and “The Evening” respectively. The fifth book “The Dusk” talks about the final and the last year of the BJP-led NDA (II) government under the leadership of PM Modi.
It was a historic day when, after a gap of 10 years, India witnessed a change of guard strongly mandated in 2014 as the BJP alone through the ‘Modi wave’ had won 282 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats that year. There was high hope and excitement in anticipation of a break from the past decade of the Congress-led UPA coalition government which was mired with allegations of corruption. Since the majority mandate frees the BJP from the compulsions of coalition politics, the citizens expected an overhaul of the system to make India corruption-free and transparent. The PM’s promise of Acche Din through “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” was expected to yield high economic growth along with job growth and upliftment of the farmers, the poor, the discriminated and the disadvantaged. But have the BJP and PM Modi fulfilled their promises made in the 2014 election campaigns? Has PM Modi succeeded in representing the Constitution of India, which he professes to be his Bible for governance, and not the RSS’ ideology under which he grew up? The author explores the final year (The Dusk) of the BJP-led NDA-II government under PM Modi not as a judge but as a commentator of the events from her own perspective. And as the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 get underway, the voters of India will be the final judges on the Report Card of PM Modi and the BJP-led NDA-II government.
