The status of Indian women is highly paradoxical. Here, the worship of female goddess and the abandonment of female infants are both sheer reality. Here exists the catastrophe of female feticide, maternal and infant mortality rate, along with the silver lining of education and empowerment. Thus, understanding the social position of contemporary women in modern Indian society is very convoluted and challenging. Conceiving this assortment requires a brief realization of the dynamism of Indian society and the factors influencing it.
