About the book
OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE: Health is not the wealth of an individual alone but also that of the nation. A nation cannot progress without the health of its people and society. In order to give effect to the fundamental right to health the students are taught this module. The goal of this course is to familiarise students, particularly those interested in healthcare administration, law, and management, with the legal challenges that they may encounter when managing a healthcare facility. The course’s objectives are for students to gain a general understanding of the functions and interactions of courts, legislatures, and regulators; the role of court system in health policy and health-care access; how to identify legal problems and interact with lawyers; how law affects students as effective potential in health care positions; and how to applying the basic tort and contract principles. Key themes will vary, but will typically include the following: responsibility; outpatient centers as corporate entities; unfair business practices; tax break; confidentiality and privacy; governmental regulation of medical systems, such as quality care; relevant laws for health care access; anti-discrimination; and general workplace issues. This course may be studied as an optional or to fulfill the requirement for law/politics.
About the author
Ms. Phibanker Paswett is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Law at NEF Law College, Assam, since February, 2019. Prior to joining NEF She has been practising in the Meghalaya High Court and Subordinate Court in Meghalaya. She has done her B.A.LL.B (Hons) from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya and LL.M from Alliance University, Bangalore, Karnataka with specialization in Constitutional Law & Administrative Law. She has qualified UGC/NET in January, 2019. She has also attended various seminars , workshop and training programmes. Her areas of academic interests includes Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights, Health Law. Prior to this she had also published ‘A HANDBOOK ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW’ according to the syllabus of Guahati University with her Co-author Ms. Upasana Borah. || Ms. Upasana Borah is currently pursuing her B.B.A LL. B (Hons) in Constitutional Law from N.E.F Law College affiliated to Gauhati University, Assam (2016–2021). She holds the title of ‘Young Researcher’ from the Institute of Scholars. She had started her field as a researcher, blog and content writer in various online law platforms like Lex Life India, Advocates Pedia Foundation, Lex Jura Law Journal Law Times Journal.
