About The Author 

Sudipta Bhattacharyya is Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Politics, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, with over three decades of teaching and research experience. He has also served as the Honorary Director of the Agro-Economic Research Centre, Visva-Bharati. A Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, his research focuses on political economy of agrarian change, participatory development, and the debates surrounding globalization. He has authored several books and published numerous research papers in reputed journals and edited volumes. His notable publications have appeared Journal of Peasant Studies, Journal of Agrarian Change, European Journal of Development Research, Journal of South Asian Development, Agrarian South, and Economic and Political Weekly. Professor Bhattacharyya has completed several research projects and supervised many doctoral theses. He has held prestigious academic positions, including the Chair at the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at the University of Bath, UK; and Visiting Scholar at Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford, UK.
