Description

Down The Memory Lane Down The Memory Lane is a heartfelt sketch of my autobiography. My forefathers were among those deported to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands following the historic Moplah Rebellion – a courageous uprising against British colonial rule. Their lives, along with those of their children, were marked by severe hardships under British oppression, the brutal Japanese occupation, and the constant threat from indigenous tribes, all compounded by the harsh living conditions and lack of educational facilities on the Islands.
This memoir not only traces my personal journey but also offers a brief historical account of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands—its native tribes, the suffering endured during colonial and wartime rule, and the resilience of its people.
My life is a testament to perseverance. I lost my father in my childhood, I was one of eight siblings raised by a widowed mother with no stable income. Despite overwhelming odds, I began my career as a Village Level Worker and steadily rose through the ranks to serve as a Senior Class-I Officer in the Union Territory Civil Services. My journey over four decades stands as a reflection of unwavering commitment, dedication, and a deep sense of duty as a public servant.
