ABOUT THE BOOK
“The Sanskrit word Vāstu means a dwelling or a house with a corresponding plot of land. The underlying word is Vas, that is, “”to dwell, live, stay, or reside””. Vāstu Shāstra is the ancient Indian science of direction that combines all the five elements of nature (Pancha-bhutās: earth, water, fire, wind and the sky), and align these elements with the man and the material. The aim of Vāstu Shāstra is to create a congenial setting or a place to live or to work, in the most scientific way, taking advantages bestowed by these five elements of the nature and thereby paving the way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness for the occupants in a peaceful and harmonious environment.
Vāstu is the energy contained in the Universe, which is not visible to the eyes.
Vāstu is mentioned in the Vedas. The principal source for Vāstu Shāstra within the Vedas is the Sthapatya Veda, which deals explicitly with architecture as a part of the Atharva Veda. Scholars well-versed in Vāstu Shāstra, as described in Sthapatya Veda are called true ‘Sthapatis’. Vāstu Shāstra can be considered to be an applied-science approach that evolved continuously over a period of at least 2500 years, producing a large number of texts, like Vishwakarma Prakāsh, Sthapatya Veda, Brihat Samhita, Mānasāra, Mayamata, and Aparājitaprcchā, etc.
Whereas the Vāstu Shāstra is the most ancient and the most established Vedic science of architecture, yet there are many people in the world these days who do not have a genuine knowledge of this Shāstra.
In the contemporary world including India, many Vāstu consultants “”promote superstition in the name of “Vāstu science””. Consultants, who include “”quacks, priests and astrologers”” fueled by greed, are marketing pseudoscience and superstition in the name of Vāstu Shāstra. They have little knowledge of what the historic and scientific Vāstu Shāstra texts actually teach, and they project it to the people as a “”religious tradition”” or in their business interests, rather than ground it in any “”genuine architectural theory”” therein.
Vāstu, is the precise Vedic Science of Architecture and no mumbo jumbo.
This book has been authored by me with a genuine aim to project the exact Vedic science of Vāstu Shāstra for the benefit of the readers, as against the pseudoscience.
This book consists of 18 chapters.
The Book is humbly dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma: The Divine Architect, Artisan, and Engineer of the Universe.
The author sincerely believes that a book of this nature will be appreciated by all the readers across the globe who wish to get a deep insight into genuine and authenticated aspects of Vāstu Science and its applications to real situations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born in June 1948, Prof. (Dr.) Jai Paul Dudeja holds a brilliant academic record. He did his Master’s degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani (India), and Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He has been in regular employment as a Scientist, Professor, Dean, Director, Principal and a Senior Administrator in various educational institutions, universities, laboratories, public and private organizations. He superannuated as a Senior Scientist and Additional Director in May 2008 from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Government of India. After DRDO, he served for over 11 years, till his last posting as a Director at Amity University Gurgaon, from where he retired in Nov 2019.
