About the book

Bhagavad Gita and the Vishnu Sahasranamam

The greatest history ever eulogized, the longest poem of the world, The Mahabharata. It’s heroine is the spirited Draupadi, whose humiliation triggered the bloodiest and the fiercest war ever fought by the human civilization, the Kurukshetra.

But, the best warrior of Kurukshetra, Arjuna, refused to fight his kin, fearing sin! It was then his charioteer, Sri Krishna, motivated him to fight, which is now known as the Bhagavad Gita.

But, the victor king, Yudhisthira, was not ready to enjoy the spoils he conquered, seeing the huge devastation of the battle. So, to pacify him, the Oldest warrior of the battlefield, Bhishma, instructed him in various scriptures, and with that discourse came the Vishnu Sahasranamam, The thousand names of Vishnu.

This book bring you a collection of a self-autobiographical poem of Draupadi’s humiliation, a translation of Vishnu Sahasranamam and of the Bhagavad Gita into English, but in a poetical format.

This is the Poetic revival of Ancient Indian Literature.

About the author

I am from the City of Pearls, the Capital of the youngest state of India. My RIMCOhood started on 14th January 2019 along with 26others of the 194th Vikings, of whom seven joined me in the Shivaji Section. I ventured into the world of literature at the age of 7, beginning this unceasing trail with ‘The White Tiger’ by Rohini Chaudhary. This curiosity for reading later pushed me to read Enid Blyton, J.K Rowling, and many others, until I stumbled upon the literary reservoir of awe striking opus of our Ancient Ancestors- The Mahabharata. From this sprung my passion, which fed upon various versions and retellings and shorts stories of the epic, Kalidas’ works and narratives from the Puranas. This also kindled a passion in me towards writing poetry on these topics as I was dissatisfied with the available translations of the Indian Literature and this I embarked upon with The ‘Mahabharata’. My love for history coupled up with my interest in writing, which made me enthusiastic enough to eulogize the bygones of this Sacrosanct Cradle of Excellence, which shaped me into a Spirited Boxer [Bronze medal in IPSC besides Silver medal and most spirited Boxer in Inter-section]. I wish to unfold the adventures and feel the thrill of life as an Air force Officer.
