ABOUT THE BOOK
The Gleam of White Teeth is a collection of four short stories crafted meticulously with a language not too literary, not too casual. The first story, ‘The Gleam of White Teeth’ is about author’s experiences in a remote village with rural people, studded with generous imagery and unreserved expression of language. The second story, ‘Dung and Woman’ is quite in blend with the theme of the first story that is it is too about the author’s excursion to a remote village in the outskirts of her hometown Jamnagar. The third story, ‘Lizards and Humans’ sharply juxtapose the previous themes of the stories since it deals entirely with a fantasy world drawing uncrossable lines of realism and imagination coming from the author’s creative mind. The fourth story, ‘Age and its Impetuosity’ is a blend of historical concept, again, the rural setting and a very adventurous narrative. It’s quite strenuous to tell the exactitude of these stories by means of a short introduction. The narrative is to be enjoyed without minding the stories’ destination. After all, these stories having abundance of symbol will not keep you out of substance.
