Pathology and Microbiology occupy an important place in the curriculum for Biomedical engineering students. A sound knowledge of pathology will be of immense help in understanding the causes and effects of disease or injury. Microbiology is the study of the microscopic organisms which cause diseases – viruses, bacteria, algae, fungi, slime molds, and protozoa. This book covers basic pathogenesis of cell derangement, characteristics of pathogenic organisms and diagnostic techniques based on immunological reactions, cell staining etc. This book also deals with various aspects of optical microscope, fluorescent microscope and electron microscope. In writing this book efforts have been made to keep the size within manageable limit without giving up the nuances and clarity of the subject.
About the author
Dr.N.Jeyashanthi, M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Tech., Ph.D., Professor of Biomedical Engineering Department, Velalar College of Engineering and Technology, Erode has a rich experience of teaching and research straddling more than 20 years. She has taught and supervised research in the fields of Biochemistry, Anatomy, Human physiology, Biosensors and Biomedical Instrumentation. She is an author for a book titled “Text Book of Biochemistry” She has published several research papers in various journals and conferences. She has been adjudged as a Best Teaching Staff, Department of Biomedical Engineering of the year 2005 in her institution. She is a member of BMESI and ISTE.
