This book comprised Baal Kaanda, Ayodhya Kaanda, Aranya Kaanda and Kishkindha Kaanda. In Baal Kaanda, valour lad Rama had respected his father’s words and went with Viswamitra to kill ogresses Tatika who was destroying the altar of sacrifice; Rama won princes of Jamakapuri in the contest of breaking ‘Shiva-Bow’; In Ayodhya Kaanda, to respect his father King Dasharatha’s words he had fulfilled the boons of his step-mother queen Kaikeyi; accordingly youth Rama had sacrificed the thrown and went to exile for fourteen years in Dandaka-forests, his young wife Sita and brother Lakshaman followed him. In Arnya Kaanda, Rama, Sita, Lakshmana went into thick Dandaka-forests, stayed there near ‘Music-Lake’ for ten years; they went to ‘Panchavati’ place situated on river Godavari; meanwhile they had confronted with ogreses; they had come across Ravana’s sister Soorpanakha who was wounded by Lakshmana’s sword; knowing this event by Soorpanakha, Ravana by using his trick abducted Sita in the absence of Rama and Lakshmana. In Kishkindha Kaanda, Rama and Lakshmana met with Sugrieva through Hanuman and accepted friendship treaty with Sugrieva; Rama had hunted valour Vali and returned Sugrieva his wife Ruma and kingdom; Sugrieva had gathered humanoid-monkeys and sent to search the Sita and Ravana; It is, in folk-style Kannada language of north Karnataka, written on the basis of original epic poem of Sage Valmiki.

About The Author

Prof, Dr. Arjun Y Pangannavar is a versatile writer in Kannada and English language. He studied Economics, English and Kannada Literature at graduation level and MA & PhD in economics. He started his career as lecture from 1977 and retired (2011) as Associated Professor of Economics and Principal (2014) from reputed graduate-colleges. He is guiding three PhD research scholars from Bharathiar University Coimbatore (TN) India—one is awarded PhD. Kannada University Hampi, Karnataka has nominated his as member of Advisory Committee of The Chair of Valmiki Studies. Micro-finance, women empowerment, rural development and economic issues are the special area of his research. He has published a good numbers of research papers in national and international journals and 11 research works in ResearchGate wherein 51+ thousand scholars researchers and professors read and share his work world-wide; his works have been cited in a good number of theses and research papers, world-wide. He writes Kannada articles regularly for Kannada-monthly ‘Valmiki Karnataka’. He presented research papers in a good number of national and international seminars and conferences. He wrote 23 books, including economics and literature. The author has already published his research works on great epic on ‘Valmiki Ramayana’ in folk-style Kannada, and the book “ Shrimad Valmiki Ramayana Maha-Kaavya Darshanm (Part-1)” is great epic focuses on the original epic of ancient poet Valmiki with summary, discussion and analysis that is presented before readers.
