Description
In this novel, I have addressed the issue of migration. Driven by extreme poverty, the Pandey couple migrates from Gaya to Rangoon in 1890. I categorize this work as “Fictional Reality.” While the names of the characters and the specific events of their lives are fictional, the underlying circumstances are historically accurate.
The story depicts the Pandey couple’s journey to Rangoon, their struggle to carve out a place for themselves in a new society, and the hardships faced by three generations over a span of 54 years. Alongside the family’s saga, the narrative explores the social, economic, cultural, and religious nuances of Rangoon. Furthermore, I have presented the horrors of the Second World War to the readers.
In this book, you will encounter a blend of Hindi, English, Bengali, Burmese, and Chinese languages/scripts. I have also briefly incorporated the impact of British rule, the Japanese invasion and occupation, and the overall consequences of WWII within the novel.
