ABOUT THE BOOK
“Noak-e-Qalam” is the Urdu poetry book of Hamidullah Mahir. The book includes Hamd, Naats, Qatas, Nazms and Ghazals etc. An excellent artistic work of Urdu Marsia which the poet wrote on the death of his father, is also included in the book. In his poetry, there is a rich reflection of the surrounding events and comments on the beauty of the nature and universe. Progressive feelings and emotions can also be clearly felt in his poetry. The love of humanity and the love for God are also clearly visible in the poetry but both trends are contained within their specific domains. There is no place for atheistic and blasphemous thoughts in his poems. In the nutshell the book “Noak-e-Qalam” is an excellent literary work of Mahir which is expected to get name and fame in the literary circles.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hamidullah Naik is an Urdu poet who has adopted pen name “Mahir”. He has been an alumnus of Faridia Model School Doda, Govt. Degree college Doda and Department of Urdu, University of Jammu. Professionally, he is serving as Deputy Superintendent in Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is resident of Ahadabad, District Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. His late father Shri Ghulam Mohammad Naik “Mashkoor” was a social activist, a political leader and a poet as well. Inspired by his father and being a student of Urdu literature, Mahir is influenced by great Urdu poets like Iqbal, Ghalib, Mir, Jagan Nath Azad and Rasa Javdani etc. The Poet is well versed with the composing of ghazals etc as per the laid down rules and norms of Urdu poetry besides he emphasises on the articulation of meaning and ideas. On the one hand Mahir’s Poetry is filled with the patriotic sentiments In his poetry, on the other hand there is pain for the humanity, condemnation for the loss of human values, ill-treatment on the basis of colour, caste, region and religion.
