ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hamidullah Naik is an Urdu poet who has adopted pen name “Mahir”. He has been an alumnus of Faridia Model School Doda, Govt. Degree college Doda and Department of Urdu, University of Jammu. Professionally, he is serving as Deputy Superintendent in Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is resident of Ahadabad, District Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. His late father Shri Ghulam Mohammad Naik “Mashkoor” was a social activist, a political leader and a poet as well. Inspired by his father and being a student of Urdu literature, Mahir is influenced by great Urdu poets like Iqbal, Ghalib, Mir, Jagan Nath Azad and Rasa Javdani etc. The Poet is well versed with the composing of ghazals etc as per the laid down rules and norms of Urdu poetry besides he emphasises on the articulation of meaning and ideas. On the one hand Mahir’s Poetry is filled with the patriotic sentiments In his poetry, on the other hand there is pain for the humanity, condemnation for the loss of human values, ill-treatment on the basis of colour, caste, region and religion.
