Description

ABOUT THE BOOK

When a society is on the path of spiritual progress, there will be holistic development in the intellectual, mental, emotional, physical and social abilities of all its people. As an outcome, people will enjoy happiness and oneness with nature.
Hinduism is a culture based on the science of spirituality. If correctly understood and practised, it offers us a state of contentment and guides us towards Self-Realisation, i.e., unity with the divine.
As any society evolves, its people lose grip on spirituality, and their moral values diminish. From time to time, great sages have intervened to inject spirituality into the masses to help society redeem itself.
The book intends to present the core values of Hinduism in a simple manner, adapted to the current times and needs.
With its profound philosophies, invigorating gods, fascinating mythologies, vibrant art and architecture, and an inspiring age-old living tradition, Hinduism provides an exceptionally rich tapestry which appeals to people from all walks of life.
The true essence of Hinduism can only be grasped in its entirety by embracing all aspects of its culture – by understanding its philosophies, meditating on the forces of the universe, leading an ethical lifestyle, and celebrating unity with all other beings.
This book intends to take the reader on a journey exploring various aspects of Hinduism in a condensed, easy-to-read format with hundreds of spell-binding pictures and illustrations.
It aims to be a “book of life” which would awaken the spirituality of one and all!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jay is a Chartered Engineer by profession, working with top-class engineering companies for more than 25 years. Jay and his family live in London, UK.
He was exposed to Hindu cultural traditions right from childhood. However, his interest in spirituality remained dormant as the usual pressures of education, career, and parenting took precedence. Only when introducing the culture to his children did a quest for spirituality grip him.
He noticed that most books explaining the core concepts of Hinduism are not targeted at youth and ordinary people. Many Hindus are generally not familiar with the universal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita or Upanishads. He realised that when there is spiritual progress in a society, all its people will lead contended and worthy lives.
Although this is his first book as an author, he has patiently invested a long time in understanding spiritual concepts, traditions and history. What began as a few notes to further his spiritual growth slowly began taking shape as a compendium that he felt would benefit others too.
His experience in logically and aesthetically writing scientific reports has helped him present the knowledge in the form of a well-balanced, engaging and pleasing narrative with the potential to arouse the spiritual quest in all readers!
