About the book

This book depicts about story of my journey before and after becoming an Air Traffic Controller, which also includes brief memories from my childhood and youth and few memorable experiences in those era, apart from my observation, in chronological order, different geographical environments, tradition, culture & lifestyle of the people at different places in our country, wherever I spent some time in those places. The main aim is also to give some knowledge/idea about the actual working scenarios of the ground based operations at different stations from seventies, accomplished by the Air traffic controller, round the clock basis, throughout the year in our country, or even throughout the world as a whole. The text of the book, henceforth, includes the different theoretical and practical training courses, Air traffic controllers normally have to undergo during their service periods, and I tried to explain and give some ideas about the various course subjects, with its contents, mainly required for the Air Traffic Services, and how the expeditious & orderly flow of Air traffic, by preventing any collision between aircraft, takes place in airspace throughout, in plain language for the benefit of the readers.

About the author

I am a retired Air Traffic Controller from Airports Authority of India. I did my graduation from Calcutta University in 1968, before joining my service in Civil Aviation Department, Govt of India. I was born & brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal. I did my first professional training in Civil Aviation Training Centre, Allahabad in 1970 & there after other training courses at different time interval at aviation training centre.. Before becoming an Air Traffic Control Officer, I discharged my duties in Air Traffic Services units, at various airports as an ATC Assistant, and as an Air Traffic Controller/Radar Controller, I have accomplished my job in Air Traffic Control mainly at Calcutta and Ahmedabad aerodromes ATS units, and also as a Radar instructor of Air Traffic Control Officers at Ahmedabad airport for few years till my retirement from the service of Airports Authority of India. I was also associated with the Ahmedabad Flying clubs, and Banasthali University Glyding &:flying club as Ground Instructor of Air Regulations & RT for the students of CPL aspirants, after my retirement as an Air Traffic Controller.
