The book is on the migrant labourers in India. Based on seven months’ ordeal of migrant labourers, it tries to find out the reasons of migrant crisis, discusses the failure of labour laws to provide them security as well as the weaknesses of the measures taken by the Govt. to lessen their pain. Overall , it is an account of their pain and sorrow.
About the Author
A gold medalist from Gauhati University in Economics, in 1997, Dr. Susmita Priyadarshini(b.1973), obtained her Ph.D degree from the same university in 2005 under the guidance of renowned economist Dr. Srinath Baruah. She is now Associate Professor in Economics in DCB Girls’ College, Jorhat. She has published a number of papers in different national and international journals. A bi-lingual writer, she is a popular economic analyst of local dailies-both Assamese and English. She has contributed articles to several books on socio-economic and political issues. She has written a total of eight text cum reference books : six for Higher Secondary students and two for BA students of Dibrugarh and Gauhati University. In 2016, she published the book – Contemporary Economic Issues : A collection of Essays.Her book ‘ Modi Economics(2014-19): An Impartial Analysis’ was published in 2019. Her areas of interest are econometrics, mathematical economics, cultural studies and policy studies.
