This book entitled “Malem Ima Panthoibi” focuses on the classical text about the popular legendary “Panthoibi Khongkhul” which is taken from the old Meitei traditional cult. The book consists of twelve chapters dealing with the cosmology and cosmogony of the Meitei community on the basis of worshipping goddess Panthoibi generally known as the mother earth. The believe of the Meitei community is that the Goddess Ima Panthoibi (Panthoibi, the Mother Earth) gives civilization, courage, fertility, handicraft, love, victory, warfare and wisdom in the human society. Keeping this in view, the Meiteis are celebrating the ritual of Ima Panthoibi festival every year with the sacred music and dance of men and women groups led by the Amaibas and Amaibis, the religious leaders of the Meitei religion. This book will also help in imparting knowledge to the young students of undergraduate and master.
