About the book
As a linguist and lover of language, Avani has put her heart and soul into this spellbinding anthology, Living Lights. Semi-autobiographical, this medley of poems (with a smattering of haikus and a modicum of musings) is the product of mistakes made, experiences lived, trouble had, losses endured, and an occasional victory gained. Each one reveals a little snippet of her. Although she imagines you will see a piece of yourself along the way too.
About the author
Although this is Avani’s first published work, she has been an educator for 20 years, who has always loved language and word play, but never really loved herself enough to share her words. It is somewhat ironic that when you play the game of life, according to Avani, without ever really knowing the rules, she ended up experiencing so much that the words practically leapt onto the paper, seeped into the pages and waited patiently until she was prepared to share them with the world. Puducherry has been her permanent home since 2018 and where she continues to teach English Language as a volunteer at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, but first and foremost, as a devotee of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. This paragon of a city has proven to be the one place capable of stirring her from her stupor.
