Professor Prem Suman Jain
Born: 1 August, 1942
Emeritus Professor (Dr.) Prem Suman Jain, a scholar of ancient Indian languages, Jainology and Buddhist philosophy, has been continuously active in writing, teaching and research for the last fifty years. He is a prominent scholar of Prakrit and Apabhramsha language and literature. He has provided his multi-dimentional academic support in the teaching and learning of these subjects in various institutions of the country. The all round development of the Jainism and Prakrit Department of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur is the result of his tireless dedication and spirit of service.
Prof. Jain has been honoured with many awards by the society. These include Presidential Award 2006 given by His Excellency Dr. Abdul Kalam Azad in Delhi, Gomteshwar Bahubali Sahitya Prashashti 2008, Kundakunda Gyanpeeth Award 2009, Acharya Tulsi Prakrit Award 2012, Prakrit Gyanbharti International Award, Shravanbelgola 2016, Acharya Vidyanand Prakrit Literature Award New Delhi 2017 etc. Professor Jain’s 175 research articles have been published in reputed journals of India and abroad.
