ABOUT THE BOOK

Haiku is a Japanese poem which consists of only 3 lines with 17 syllables. Syllables
are nothing but the procedure which is used to split the word based on the stress
which makes easier to pronounce. For example, the word “syllable” has three
syllables: syl-la-ble.
EXAMPLE:
Hi hello haiku -5
How come you are just three lines? – 7
You are wonderful – 5
In the above poem first line has 5 syllables. Word ‘Hi’ has 1 syllable. By splitting
the word ‘hello’ we get HEL-LO contains 2 syllables and again by splitting the word
‘haiku’ we get HAI-KU has 2 syllables. 1+2+2 totally 5 syllables in first line. In the
second line word ‘How’ has 1 syllable; ‘come’ has 1 syllable; ‘you’ has 1 syllable;
‘are’ has 1 syllable; ‘just’ has 1 syllable; ‘three’ has 1 syllable and ‘lines ‘has 1
syllable. 1+1+1+1+1+1+1 totally in second line has 7 syllables. In last line ‘You’
has 1 syllable; ‘are’ has 1 syllable and by splitting the word ‘wonderful’ we get wonder-
ful has 3 syllables to it. 1+1+3 totally 5 syllables.
Following the above pattern for every poem should follow 5-7-5 rule only within
three lines. In first line sentence with 5 syllables, in second line sentence with 7
syllables and in last line sentence with 5 syllables. The poems here followed the 5-
7-5 rule. This book consists of topics which everyone come across in our day to day
life like games, languages, technology ,religions, life, persons and their characters,
festivals ,famous days etc.. This book doesn’t cover everything in and around the
world however they are written commonly and not written specific to anything or
anyone. The written three lines and 17 syllables has more meanings attached to it.
Read once or twice for better understanding. Hope you will be enjoying it.
