Description
About the book
The present book, Gandhi Wins India is a sincere attempt to understand the theoretical and conceptual dimensions as well as practical nature and efficacy of the Philosophies and methods of Non-violence and Satyagraha as defined, interpreted, developed and practised by Mahatma Gandhi at several occasions during the Indian freedom struggle. During this struggle, Gandhi played a very big non-violent role which proved to be decisive in making India free from the British Rule and left an indelible impact on the masses and classes of India as well as the world. The use of non-violent methods such as Non-co-operation, Civil Disobedience, Salt Satyagraha and Quit India Movement by Gandhi to achieve the freedom of India proved to be fairly successful in three ways. Firstly, they mobilized the poor and unarmed masses of India by removing the fear of British violence from their hearts and minds. Secondly, they kept the violent moods, acts and deeds of both the Britishers as well as the Indian extremists and terrorists in check, thereby, led the Indian National Movement in a right direction and thirdly they hastened the transfer of power from the Biritishers to the Indian people without any heavy loss of life and bloodshed. Thus, the present book, Gandhi Wins India presents a very clear conception of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophies and methods of Non-violence and Satyagraha in extremely convincing manner. The book also provides an open window to peep through the historical and political developments of the British colonial era vis-a-vis Gandhi’s non-violent struggle against illegal British occupation of india in a chronological and objective manner. Other than this book, Dr. Mazhar Kibriya has also written a second book on Mahatma Gandhi. The title of this book, is Gandhi Wins South Africa. This book deals very deeply with the non-violent socio-political philosophies and non-violent socio-political methods of Mahatma Gandhi and their applications in practical politics for achieving civil rights and liberties for the Indians living in South Africa.
