Description
ABOUT THE BOOK
As the symbolic undertones of the title Fins of Dolphin on Highway suggest, here is between the flaps a range of poetry that dwells on the broken strings of love on the terrains of human experiences of life, rendered rough, barren and fallow. The romantic afterglow of a totalized worldview is mellowed here. Fragments and splinters of experiential realities float like tattered and torn leaves that swirl up and drop down to be trodden by the romping footsteps of an overriding and soulless civilisation. In the long dark stretches, there are a few redeeming spots of illumination that undercut the thickening gloom and points to pathways to salvation. These redemptive spots are lit up preponderantly through the poems of Jay Basu, as evinced in his poetry. The first part is a string of original poems by Dr Basu while the second part bares the heart and soul of the Nobel Laureate Bengali poet R N Tagore through transcreations of his select poems and songs culled from the pages of Gitanjali and Gitabitan.
