About The Author
Dr. Barnali Chetia is an esteemed faculty member and HOD at the Department of Sciences and Humanities, Indian Institute of Information Technology Vadodara (IIITV), Gujarat. She specializes in Applied Linguistics with a keen focus on sociolinguistics, gender studies, and language shift and maintenance. Dr. Chetia has significantly contributed to academia through her research and publications, exploring interdisciplinary areas such as feminist discourse, Indian language-literature, and cultural studies. Dr. Chetia completed her M.Phil. in 2010 from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. She later completed her Ph.D. in 2014 from JNU, with a thesis titled “The interplay of linguistic and other communicative parameters in English Advertising texts and its implications in a multilingual and multicultural context.” Dr. Chetia’s published papers, books and book chapters, alongside her notable projects, explore the intersections of gender, society, and language. Her research examines how societal norms and policies influence gender roles and how language functions within various social, anthropological and digital contexts.
