Description
About the book
In the Indian context, Media has been an integral part of the freedom struggle and today also it is in a constant battle. The difference is that the war for press freedom was hailed as the necessity for independence of the nation from British domination, whereas today it is on the war for ‘authenticity, justice, and non-arbitrariness. The technological changes have also brought a major shift in the law, rights and operations of media. Despite the fact that the media’s aim has always been to remain “truthful” and “righteous,” its function has evolved over the decades. Hence, this book will aim at providing relevant theoretical frameworks, review and the latest critical research in the field of Contemporary Mass Media and its implications on the Indian Society. The book chapters ranges from critical review of social media, films , etc. to analysis of media as a catalyst with reference to social change. We are hopeful that media academicians, scholars and practitioners across India will find the contents of the book insightful and relevant. This academic endeavor is a collective effort of the Editorial Team and esteemed contributors, aimed towards contributing in media research in terms of theory and practice.
