Description
India the country of diversity is the hearth of contrasting culture, ethnicity, religion, language, faith, belief, philosophy and custom. The nation of countless communities also harbour prejudices camouflaged under distinctive, ideas, viewpoints, wisdoms and systems that increases hostility towards women in many situations. The light of education and modernisation often cannot reach the abyss of stereotype and bigotry theories. Women often considered as ‘weaker sex’ are marginalised inside the wall of biasness and discrimination. But the scenario is not same everywhere. Indian women are gradually breaking free the chains of adversity and stepping outside the confinement of ancient belief systems. In many domains Indian women are standing tall. They are leading their ways leaving remarkable footsteps for others to follow. On the other hand there are realms were they are still succumbed within the medieval darkness of gender discrepancy. The country of divergence indeed holds a multifaceted reality of women empowerment. This book not only highlights this difference but also features the disparity of parameters and dimensions of women empowerment status.
