ABOUT THE BOOK
Dr. Arjun Y. Pangannavar’s book “Bharatada Miesalati Niti mattu Shadhyantragalu” is research work, in Kannada, on the policy and practice of Dr. Ambedkar’s reservation to untouchables and depressed class and tribes for their uplift, as per Poona-Pact -1932; it focuses the contents Articles of Constitution of India (COI) pertaining to reservation given to untouchable depressed community and tribes who have been being illtreated, insulted and exploited since centuries. The book covered eleven articles: they focused on India’s Reservation Policy including its background definitions of Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, Other Backward Class, and Minority as per the respective Articles of COI, including criteria to decide, the conspiracy, in various disguise, to deprive of reservation facilities given to untouchables and depressed class and tribes and trying to suppress the beneficiaries, Backward Commission of India Reports, published from time to time and their effort to generalize reservation policy in-lieu of selective measure and the Supreme Court of India observation and directions on these reports, constitutional amendments to the Articles of COI pertaining to reservation, 103rd Constitutional Amendment Act-2019 and PILs lodged before Hon’ble Supreme court of India, including arguments and court’s observations, the discrimination being made in reservation policy execution, reservation problems, adverse effects of political reservation on SCs and STs, solutions to reservation problems and concluding summary of reservation policy and practice. The book is useful to the common readers, scholars, students, and researchers. It could also be a good reference book to researchers who is doing research on India’s Reservation Policy.
