ABOUT THE BOOK
Life is a blend of success/failures, a common feature observed in human life. This novel is a combination of both. The novel has colonial background (pre-independent days), in that SamiKannu Pillai a peasant by origin but literate enough to know the political and social order of the day. Saveri, his lonely son, occupies a central place to say he is Lord of the ring. The family upright in spirit and innocent had to endure sufferings, rendering the family dejected and encountering frustration as the ultimate wisdom of life.Romance has a place in the novel in which Smith, a son of Francis, is trapped in romance even though he was married. Smith experiences alternating swift of events, changing mood, displayed immaturity which ruined his romantic affair. Francis, one of the sons of Saveri experiences lady luck in a fleeting moment. Francis encountered a bad swing of events which wrought frustration in his life. It was said that he who sits down to the feast of life must end it by drinking the cup of death. Saveri’s family was not an exception to this decree of life, the leveller of mankind that sweeps the family in quick succession.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My first academic qualification was a Diploma in Automobile Engineering. Subsequently I had qualified for two post graduate Degrees – in Economics and Sociology. Finally I have obtained the Doctorate Degree in Economics specializing in International Finance. I was a professional evaluator of government schemes and development programs implemented both by Government of INDIA and TAMILNADU STATE GOVERNMENT. I have also evaluated development programs financed by IBRD (World Bank) Institutions and schemes assisted by DANIDA & SIDA. I have 30 years of professional experience as evaluator and submitted reports to Central and State Government. I also had worked as independent evaluator post retirement evaluating GOI programs such as watershed development programme and integrated waste development programme (IWDP).
