We all would feel a gush of Oxytocin running through us in those stories trying to picture the younger version of them. The view of the countryside and the smell of grass and dung. The village Panchayats and the local ballads. The adulthood of our Grandparents, their marriage and jobs and what not. Only if, we realize that they are the ones’ who laid the foundations of our households today. My Nana, an elderly man of 85, sits in a warm sofa with eyes undeliberately pinned inside, a bald head, a sunken body and muttering Shayaris in his best times today. But has it always been like that? Well, no! He was man in charms, a man of word play and humour. A man born before the Independence but lived his life to the fullest in his 60s. I invite you to join this simple, yet not so simple, tale of a man today stuck by a disease no one could have anticipated. It is a tale of love for one’s family, the sacrifices that a simple man had to endure and the challenges he faced which turned him into someone unrecognizable. It is a story of what it takes for someone to make a successful household, not just for himself, but his generations to come.

About the Author

A student from Lucknow pursuing career in Humanities, Gauri Srivastava, is a jubilant kid who pays most of time reading classics, thrillers, fantasies and History. Developing a reading interest from her brother, she has enhanced her imagination brightly, considering her age. This book, is a compilation of stories from several family members that she has used her insight into creating the life of person well beyond her time. Talking more about the author, she was born in Gorakhpur and is currently completing her school and is determined to make her career in writing. Apart from being an avid reader, she is also enjoys watching movies and TV series. She is a passionate logophile and loves collecting uncommon, funny names and words. Today, she might just be sitting in a room watching FRIENDS on her desktop or reading Harry Potter on her table. She lives with her parents and brother in Lucknow.
