About The Author

The author Dr. Liliyan Swarna Kalai is a professional Social Worker with a PhD in environmental concerns. An English graduate from Madras Christian College, Chennai, she did her masters of Social Work in Madras School of Social work. After serving the Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu for a couple of years, she joined the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority as Community Officer working for the Economically Weaker Sections in the field of Housing, Environmental Issues and so on. Her work involved projects of the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme and in the later years being a nodal officer for the Right to Information of the Tamil Nadu government.
