The book is a thorough research work on Microfinance Institutions operating in India. A holistic approach has been adopted to gauge the financial and social performance of the Microfinance Institutions. State of the art methodology has been adopted in order to reach the conclusion of the study. Furthermore, findings of the study unveiled the position of the Microfinance Institutions on the basis of their financial and social performance. The study also suggested measures in respect of how the performance of such institutions can be improved.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Santa Kar is presently working in the position of an Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, University of Science & Technology Meghalaya. She received Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Fellowship for Research in Social Sciences for her doctoral research. Dr. Kar has authored a good number of research papers which are published in reputed journals. She has also presented several research works in national and international platforms. Dr. Kar is a life member of Indian Commerce Association.

Dr. Joyeeta Deb is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration Assam University Silchar. She has teaching experience of 19 years in both PG and UG level. Her area of research interest is Finance. She has guided a number of M.Phil and Ph.D scholars in the area of Banking, Microfinance and Corporate Finance. She has completed many funded research projects. Currently she is working for a project on Indigenous Trade Practices in Northeast India. She has authored one text book on banking and two reference books on banking and microfinance respectively. She has presented research papers in many national conferences and international conferences in India and abroad. Besides, she has also authored a number of research papers in international and national journals. She is a life members of Indian Commerce Association, IAA Research Foundation, IAA (Meghalaya Chapter), North -East Commerce and Management Association.
