The stories of this book, written in the backdrop of both rural and urban settings, are the reflecttions of human mind in this complicated age. As it reveals the increasing complexity of human life with changing era, they also highlight the eternal values of the human mind. They depict feelings and emotions of people including the burning mind with the fire of dissatisfaction at the last stage of life, the old age pull for a childhood friend left behind long ago, the desire of girls to give up their own comforts and ambitions to make husband and family members happy after marriage, the eternal bond of love between husband and wife and the lover’s sacrifice for the beloved fighting against social adversaries, the heartbroken cry of mother for her dying son, people’s extending hands of help as a friend to the poor and marginalized in the society, occasional ill treatment of people out of misunderstanding by us, the struggle and dedication of the people on the border for the country, etc. The stories depict variegated colours of human life on the canvas of contemporary age,
Most of the stories were published in different leading dailies and magazines and were liked widely. Though fictional, yet they drew inspiration from the practical experiences of the writer gained during childhood days amidst lush green nature in remote village, and from his contact with people of different races and cultures countrywide during worklife. Hope the stories would be liked by readers irrespective of race and culture breaking geographical barriers.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born in a remote village in Midnapur(W) district(1955) of West Bengal in a poor family, the writer had to struggle hard to get established in life. However, he had a passion for literature since teenage years, which decorated the school’s wall magazine and earned applauds from teachers. But he couldn’t nurture it due to struggle for survival and afterwards work life pressure, but gradually finished his higher education while working. Then, immediately after retirement, he delved into the world of writing, after which he didn’t have to look back and his literary stride started touching new heights. Variegated experiences gathered from mixing and dealing with people of diverse races and cultures in different parts of the country during postings as a Class-I Central Governent officer have enriched his writing. Also memories of childhood days, spent amidst lush green nature of village and his struggle for survival in a poor family have enriched his writings to depict the life of the toiling people of the society and their efforts against all odds to carry forward the ageold culture and traditions in his works. The beauties of nature find expression in most of his writings. In this small period of six years, he has ten published books on rhyme, poetry, story, belles letress, essay, novel, thriller, etc, in his credit. He is a regular writer in leading Bengali dailies and magazines of Kolkata, Siliguri, Delhi, Assam, Tripura and also Bangladesh now. The author is also engaged in a research(PhD) work in Psychology in a reputed university of Kolkata.
