With a wide smile, sparkling eyes and a well-rehearsed performance, Shweta Maurya uniquely wore the crown of worldwide Special Queen and Mrs. Beauty Glory Awards held at the Singapore based beauty Pageant event held on 25th October of year 2022.
Millions of global beauty queens celebrated the victory on social media; others were easygoing and made fun of her speculated future – a glittering starlet dancing on the decorated platforms of beauty and fitness shows.
Beauty pageants are generally seen as spaces of power and control over the female body but the politics is not only about freeing women from the shackles of commoditization, we need to pay attention to how these socio-political stages are used by the contestants and the representational politics is played out.
