ABOUT THE BOOK

The book titled ‘Money serves, Moral saves’ reflects the grim realities inside schools in the modern times, of what could be aptly termed as ‘sordid business’ involving school directors and their management in their otherwise sworn pledge to provide quality education. And from this system spring multiple sins, which can be legally counted as criminal offense, but they remain unreported through flying under the radar thanks to school magnates having considerable clout in political circles and with police administration. What results from it as the final upshot is the ruining of great many lives ranging from school teachers to students. About such tragedies runs a story in this book, with its theme, together with its other characters, central to one teacher, morally upgraded, but miserably poor, who, despite all the odds, refuses to buckle, which makes him pass through a series of untold miseries even up to the point of separation from his wife and only son, but finally his moral saves him, his son, having been brought up in straightened circumstances marked by subsisting on the existence of frugality together with his mother in an unknown unfamiliar place without any help and support of father, has, having inherited his father’s character trait, cultivated the habit of living to that standard of ethics that money serves, whose amount being aweful pretty much doesn’t make a significant case. In fact, the genuineness of the terms in the wording of the title is split between the father son duo, with the son served by money and father saved by moral, the true meaning of it rejected by the unsavoury characters of the book, to their utter misfortune, thus making them pay a heavy price in the long run, which, anyway, constitutes the way of the world.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nirmal Kumar Banerjee was born on 27 July, 1967 into a highly educated family. His parents were both doctors. His source of inspiration has, however, been his beloved mother, who is still imbued with passion for seeing her son become the pride of the literary world. And on that score she always worked much harder than she could really have done. He started his schooling in a small town of Buxar in the state of Bihar in India, continuing with his education along promising avenues ever after till he forged a rewarding career of teaching as a social platform to follow his teaching instinct, to which he, to his deep satisfaction, kind of chaperoned a huge mass of students for the best of his life on various important forums of intellectual and social interactions. Besides, his daughter, Jyotsana’s contributions in terms of lending her invaluable support of awakening his intellectual passion, such as offering him fresh insights into many domains, unexplored and unfrequented, tracked down but left uncovered through serious and wilful neglect, of social problems of diverse human interests are more laudable than words can express.
