Description

This book is an account of an ordinary person’s official life and the experiences he had over the years of role and job changes, and how he can see the lighter, the fun side of it now, expressed in the simplest of words. The intent is to paint a picture of various situations and personalities that we come across every day at office but tend to ignore them or can’t see, simply because we are neck deep in stress and work pressure. It’s all about an individual’s views about work life, about office, from a generic standpoint, hence, would be relatable to all. Something which we live, breathe and even curse each day; the one which we dread to live each day and yet must live each day – ‘The life at an office’. About the choice of the name for this book ‘The ON side of OFFice’. This book intends to show you the fun, the lighter side of an office life, so that next time, you are turned OFF by your OFFice (which is undoubtedly a common thing), reading this book should seem like the ON button for you.

A must read indeed!! This book is successful in making us think how each object/space/occasion in our office could really hold such significance in our life and help us to see the lighter or more realistic side of it which we generally ignore or to be honest, never had enough time to get into deeper analysis in office life. Really loved the way, the author made us visualize how the lifeless objects like our workstations can be looked upon as our best companions and canteen as our mood detector. Author has really well explained the different categories of people we come across when go for that offsite team building. All in all, wonderful book explained in simplest of language and could truly make us see the ON side of OFFice life. And special mention of the “Food for thought” section by author in between, making sure that we do get our daily anti-stress dose after the hectic day at office.

  2. Satya Prakash

The author has described his experiences of working in a corporate environment (an office), in a very easy, interesting and comprehensive language.
He has touched all the aspects of working in a corporate office, be it meetings, appraisals, canteen, workstation, Resignation, Farewell, etc. in a very nice, fun filled, yet relatable way. The construct is very catchy, and you tend to connect instantaneously with the words, while reading this book.
The food for thought sections in between chapters are very nicely placed and brilliantly explained.
The book, though a work of fiction, yet very well categorizes as a self-help book, for anyone who has recently embarked on a professional journey or is about to. I wish all the best to the author for this book.

There are many good things about this book which are to shed light upon but specifically this book has show the picture of office in a very optimistic manner. The gestures of office on which a normal person miss out are portraited. It gives a very light version to the scenario of an office. Nice book….

I think this is a unique sort of title which attracts, I like it the most. Moreover, the whole content is quite interesting as it makes me to co-relate as what I have been observing all through my corporate career. There are things which happen with all of us in office and around but some how we miss to notice these. Himanshu, on the other hand seems to be a keen observer of all such things and puts them in words fantastically with also drawing inferences. This is quite amazing that almost same things happened with me but I was not quite able to see through these. This book therefore takes me through those memory lanes and make me think once again about all those incidents and characters similar in my office life. This book is a wonderful effort which has successfully shaken the nostalgia inside and made me co-relate. This book is a true entertainer. Full marks to author Himanshu.

It’s a story about every office.. every office goer can relate to it ..the book is written so well that at some point of time the author makes you believe that he works in your office, thats the beauty of this book..the book seems easy and fluid but it takes strong observing power to capture universal corporate essence…as they say The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see..!!
All in all it’s a good corporate drama with nuggets of wisdom…go for it guys a must read..!!

I am a reader and I have my own favorite authors to hold onto. But recently a friend of mine suggested me of this book.initially I was reluctant to try a new read from a new author but guys believe me this book is quite different and beyond my expectations.firstly the title of book is so facinating and unique and author has described us about the driving force we usually lack at our offices. We usually see the OFFside of ur working stations instead of the hidden ONside..Written in a very simple language, the book takes us on a journey of the short comings at our offices and how we can overcome them and see the positivite side of the same. Then,be it joining ,meeting new ppl, adjusting to new environment, canteen tours worries about appraisals, presentation pressures. All in all a wonderful de-stressing relaxing read.must must for office goers like me! And yes! Last but not the least do read food for thoughts at end of every chapter( needs special mention) ,they are something that makes me laugh out loud even when I am reading this, secretly,at my office desk in a stressful mood.love this book!
