Description

How do you consider this adage……… “Jack of all trades, master of none”? Compliment or insult? We are in the age of multi-tasking, necessitated by the technology induced fast changes around the world. We are exposed to a multifaceted way of life and need to cope up with the multi-dimensional aspects of life. The brilliance of specialisation will stay and reign. But knowing the ABCDs (basics) of relevant subjects and specialties is becoming indispensable to live a positive and productive life. The knowledge of ABCDs of different and relevant subjects are the GK to understand different things at their minimal level imperative for decision-making in life. When you are ailing, you need not be a qualified doctor to opt for first aids and infer how fast to approach a doctor. To stay updated on the operating system of your Mobile hand-held and how to save its power from draining one need not be a hardware or software engineer. To know what is GDP you need not be an economist. One may not have an MBA degree but aspiring to be an entrepreneur or a corporate executive like one need not be a behavioural scientist to know the basics of human psychology. Being “Jack of all trades” therefore can be helpful only to live a multitasking life in today’s fast changing world. It’s needed to stay updated and alert on happenings around us and undertake required changes to stay fit in the ever-changing environment. “If I don’t change, I’ll be changed” is the name of the game. So how do I change? I must change to the need of the hour and circumstances to exist meaningfully. The world won’t come to me…….I must go to the world first. It is upon me to create my importance and need to my associates and circumstances. Everybody likes to be important and the centre of attraction. To be important, you must create space in minds and brains of your family members, fiancée, friends, clients, colleagues, bosses and other associates. Why should they prefer you? What are your USPs (Unique Selling Points)? Why should they buy you? When you had identified and marketed your USPs well, you’ll get the desired response from your associates and environment and create followers. Charles Darwin inferred…..”It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change”. Mastering others is strength……but mastering your self is true power. Discover the vastness of yourself first. Explore any latent talent in you. Know your strength and weakness well. Once you had studied yourself and prepared yourself to change, you can make your companions to change their way to your way. Once you had sold yourself splendidly to the world, the world would be ready and busy to buy you. My endeavour here is to share information on the very basics of professional knowledge and experiences of the professional world. Knowledge of Trigonometry or Coordinate Geometry or Bohr’s Atomic Theory is great to have but may not be applicable in daily life for millions of general students or employees or freelancers or common persons. But if some basic theories and applied knowledges of humanities which are confined in books of professional courses can be accessed by the stated categories of population for knowing, understanding and applying in daily lives may go a long way to enhance their performance and quality of life………….
