Interview With Prayash Pal

Neel Preet: Welcome to Evincepub Publishing, Prayash and congratulations for the release of your debut book “The Seed Who Got His Farmer”. How you come up with this book? When did you started writing it?

Prayash: I started the book around the middle of last December. The main idea was to give the teenagers a proper direction in their life. I have seen lot of teens gets into wrong paths. They starts drugs, alcohol, become abusive. They waste too much time dong staffs which are seemingly entertaining to them. The idea was to show teenagers the positive side of their life and make them productive so that they don’t make their life messy and can do something rather than blaming government for unemployment.

Neel Preet: Great! We would love to know the story behind the title deciding. It seems very unique and catchy. How came the title “The Seed Who Got His Farmer”?

Prayash: Well, I have heard of a story somewhere about a Chinese farmer who decided to bow Chinese bamboo instead of paddy or wheat. He spent 5 years of his life nurturing those seeds and nothing happened. Society declared him insane, but he never stopped caring for his seeds he bowed. Then after 5 whole years of nothingness, one fine day the whole field became green with bamboo plants overnight. And within few weeks the whole field was filled with Chinese bamboos.

So the lesson from here is you can be like the farmer who believed in himself and his seed and his hard work regardless of what society thinks of him. Or you can be like that bamboo tree, which strengthened its root for a whole 5 years, before appearing into light.

But most of us don’t choose any of these paths and become like those neighbours who try to pull someone down who tries to do something different being inside the society.

Neel Preet: We’ve read your book and we genuinely feel that it’s a “Life Transformation Guide” my next question to you is that what inspired you to write this book? What was the impetus behind this work of yours?

Prayash: I was deeply moved by Robin Sharma’s book, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” and loved his work. That book kind of pushed me to write down my own thoughts for those who actually need them.

Neel Preet: You have written about the ways to grow, achieve success, attain inner-peace & satisfaction in life, fulfil goals, discover hidden potentials; so, why did you choose this subject matter to write upon?

Prayash: Because most of us don’t understand this and starts doing what others want them to do. These other people are their family members, friends, and their so called well-wishers who show them paths to walk on. But a true well-wisher will let them decide their future and help them grow just like the Chinese Farmer. We are now at such a point of our timeline, where people tend to be follower rather being a leader. Why? Because of social proof. People see other people get success in a field and suddenly all the people around them starts doing that thing. And seeing them, other people starts pursuing that field.

But we have to consciously understand that life is not emotional, it is rational. So our job will be to think rationally without getting manipulated by any other person, and choose the correct thing for us. Though it is hard, but it is possible. I have more detailed approach in the book.

Neel Preet: Are you working on other books as well? Please let our readers know about it.

Prayash: Yeah I will be working on my next book, and it will come next year. It will be upon mind, and spirituality. Cannot say much as I am still searching for the interconnection.

Neel Preet: How do you see the current scenario of motivational book writing in Indian literature?

Prayash: I am not a big fan of motivational books. So I cannot say much about it.

My understanding is, motivation from books never works. Nobody remembers Robert Bruce’s story or Chinese Farmer’s story when they are depressed, Nobody. No matter how motivating a book or story is, that never comes to mind at the time of depression. Because these all stories are external motivation. What helps you get up is your internal motivation, your purpose. Literature is good for entertainment, understanding culture, everything is fine, but if you cannot find your purpose, any motivational story is just another entertaining story.

Neel Preet: What message you would like to give to your readers? Why they should pick up this book?

Prayash: See, I have grown up in a middle class family. So the main problem I understood is they may have big dreams but, there is none to support them or push them or empower them with real, actionable education for their life. So they cannot move an inch themselves, because there is nobody by their side to move them. So the motto of this book is, to educate teens about life, career, and their surroundings. So that they will have enough knowledge, they can survive the society crisis on their own. Make this book your best friend, there are lot of exclusive information you won’t find anywhere else.

Neel Preet: What is your current goal in writing career?

Prayash: First of all writing is not my career. The reason why I wrote this book or keep on creating content is, to create value to people’s lives. I believe in gift economy and over-delivery. The book I have written has over lakhs worth of content and knowledge, only if you lean and implement properly. So my current goal is to keep writing a book per year.

Neel Preet: Prayash, you were very straightforward with your writings in your book, which I really appreciate. So next, I want you to tell us about some of those writers, who had inspired you and whom you follow!

Prayash: Thanks man, really appreciate your feedback. Again, I am not a writer fan. I am only work fan. I follow some of the most influential people on the planet like Dan Lok, Grant Cardone, and Robin Sharma. They have done some amazing things, in their career as well as in other peoples’ lives. There is a lot to learn from them.

Neel Preet: Thank you so much for answering all my questions, Prayash. All the very best to you for future and your book too!

Prayash: Thanks for your wishes. Really appreciate your thoughtful questions. Have a great day.
