As a result of the book, PERSONAL LAWS & WOMEN IN INDIA consolidating Diversity with Gender Justice, women from India’s two major religious groups are brought together under a single canopy. This study examines the different personal laws prevalent in India and assesses whether they are fair to women. In order to assist students better comprehend the practical aspects of personal law, this book was produced. Critical thinking is predicated on the belief that students must passionately engage each subject. Students will be able to develop analytical models that may be used in both their present and future lives by using these resources. The legal basis for personal laws in India is examined in each chapter. During colonial control, a legal framework for personal laws was developed and the legislation for such laws evolved. This section next examines Hindu law changes after the country’s independence and discusses how courts have dealt with constitutional challenges to personal laws. Non-interventionist and scrutinising methods to testing personal legislation on the basis of basic rights are examined in detail. Article 44 of the Indian Constitution and the controversy over the Uniform Civil Code are discussed in the final section of the chapter.
