Never judge a book by its cover is what they say but we all know how much the title and the cover of a book matters in our choices of read.
The moment I came across this book, there was an innate curiosity which sprang up in my mind and I knew I had to lay my hands on this.
I felt optimism shouting back at me by looking at the cover, asking to give life another chance so I decided to give a chance to this book first.
THE THEME: Ever since the beginning of human civilization, philosophy has been entwined inherently with every aspect of our lives. Be it medicine, engineering, politics, psychology, design etc. philosophy would find its place amidst all.
In this book, the author has tried to throw light on the importance of philosophy mostly in the field of medicine. By giving examples of few great historic philosophers like Shakespeare, Plato, Confucius, Socrates, Thales, Aristotle, Pythagoras, Democritus etc. he enlightened the readers of the position Philosophy holds in our lives and also its prevalence since ages.
We are all aware of genes and its role in our human evolution. The author has researched extensively on the various aspects of gene, genomes and genetics as a whole. He has also put some light on the ‘TP53’ gene which is famously referred to as the Guardian Angel of genome and has the capability of preventing the immortal illness, Cancer.
The way the author has revealed the various aspects of Cancer and how it has affected lives ever since is commendable and shows the effort he had put in doing such extensive research. He has also dealt with the modern uncertainties of human life such as stress, de-stress, pain, difficulties and the several why’s of life.
The best part about this book were the examples from valid research works of great historic scholars coupled with his own conviction, which made the book an all the more honest read.
I would definitely recommend this book to people who are interested in delving further in the exciting world of philosophy and how deeply it is intertwined with medicine and in a way with every aspect of our life.
I liked the narration as it was pretty much fine and simple thus helping the readers in comprehending what the author was trying to express.
It is definitely not a non fiction book so it would take some time to grasp the concepts but the author has managed to keep the language & grammar simple yet refined.
