About The Book :

KEDARNATH A Doctor’s Diary

Some disasters end… but their memories never do.

June 2013. Kedarnath witnessed a catastrophe that changed thousands of lives forever.

A doctor went there to treat the injured. But amid the relentless rain, collapsing mountains, debris, fear and death, he witnessed something far beyond medicine-human beings fighting to survive, families searching for their loved ones, and countless eyes holding on to the last hope of being rescued. This is the story of those days, told through a doctor’s eyes and recorded in his diary.

It is not merely the story of a disaster. It is a journey through pain, courage, humanity and the fragile uncertainty of life. Some events are witnessed by the eyes. Some are written forever on the heart.

Those days passed… but they never truly ended.

About The Author :

Dr. Sudhir Shelly is a senior orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Dehradun. For the past several years, he has been serving in the medical field, closely observing and experiencing the many ups and downs of life while working with patients.

The Kedarnath disaster of June 2013 was an experience that permanently altered his perspective on life and way of thinking. At that time, he reached the disaster-affected areas of Uttarakhand with a medical team and actively participated in relief and healthcare operations. What he witnessed, felt, and personally underwent there remains as vivid in his memory today as ever.

He has sought to give voice to these very experiences in the form of this memoir. It is not merely the account of a catastrophe, but a chronicle of human struggle, fear, hope, compassion, and an evolving outlook on life in the face of profound adversity.

Alongside the medical profession, writing serves as a medium for him to share his experiences with others. Through this book, he intends to present the events of June 2013 to readers through his first-hand observations and recollections, so that future generations may understand the tragedy not simply as a natural disaster, but also through the human experiences entwined with it.
