The village deity is not confined to stone or shrine — he is everywhere the eye forgets to look. They burn on, quietly, as the temple’s lamp burns through the night — a small, steady flame refusing to let the dark have the last word — and in that flame, they go on giving light to the village they once called home.

About The Author :
Born in Pratapgarh and raised in Prayagraj (erstwhile Allahabad), Anjani Kumar Pandey’s intellectual foundations were shaped across three institutions of rare distinction—Allahabad University, NALSAR Hyderabad, and IIM Lucknow.
In 2010, he cleared the Union Public Service Commission examination and joined the Indian Revenue Service, serving as a bureaucrat with the Government of India for over a decade. He later stepped away from government service to pursue larger ambitions in the corporate world, where he presently serves as a C-Suite executive with a leading corporate major.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Anjani has remained committed to nurturing creative consciousness and championing the cause of nature and environment. A voracious reader, he continues to write with discipline despite the demands of a demanding career, and his work regularly appears in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms — with his social media writing drawing a wide and devoted readership.
He is best known for his bestselling book Allahabad Blues, and is now set to release his fourth book, Awadh: Soil, Memory, People.
