Description
This edited book “Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar: A Unique Legacy of Education, Society and Governance” is a scholarly tribute with heartfelt words on the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar — a visionary and justice-loving woman ruler of India.
Devi Ahilyabai is remembered for her democratic leadership, justice, compassion, equality and good governance. Her legacy still inspires modern thinking for building an inclusive and sustainable society through moral leadership and value-based education. The way she ruled shows a unique blend of intelligence and ethics in Indian history.
Her political and educational vision had already imagined today’s goals of holistic development, community participation and inclusive policymaking. Her entire administrative system was based on service, empathy and equality — principles that guide today’s global ideas of inclusive education and an equitable society.
This compilation is edited by Dr. Vinod Kumar and Prof. Amar Singh. It includes 19 chapters written by renowned scholars and educationists from different states, based on deep research and critical thinking. Together, these chapters present the ideals, life philosophy and administrative excellence of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar — aspects that colonial-minded historians often ignored.
The book mainly reinterprets her inspirational ideals related to value education, political-educational leadership, constitutional values, social inclusion, equality, justice, women empowerment, inclusive and sustainable development, and environmental protection.
