ABOUT THE BOOK
This book starts with a real story to show how important choices are. Sanjay (a changed name) was a classmate of mine. We met after twenty years in Dehradun, and I saw he had changed a lot. When I asked him about his journey to becoming a great speaker and writer, he shared his story.
He said that from birth, he was influenced by the way his father spoke. His father’s talent for explaining life through simple stories fascinated him. Sanjay wanted to be like his father but struggled to tell stories well. Despite his efforts, his stories never turned out as he hoped, and he felt disheartened.
Sanjay started writing about his feelings of failure. One day, his father found his diary and smiled at his struggles. Sanjay was upset that his father could smile while he was failing. However, his father helped him see something important: although he wasn’t a great storyteller, he had a gift for writing. His father encouraged him to focus on writing, which turned out to be his true talent.
This realization changed Sanjay’s life. His failure in storytelling led him to discover his real passion. He chose to be a writer and to express his feelings through his writing. This book, “Choices: A Matter of Perception,” was born from his journey of making choices that shaped his life.
The authors, including Dr. Bhupendra Singh Bisht, have put together experiences and choices of different people, both real and fictional, into this book. The essence of this book is that the choices we make shape our lives. As John C. Maxwell and Ken Levine have said, “Life is a matter of choice, and every choice you make makes you.”
This book will not tell you what choices to make, but it will explore the beauty of making choices and sticking to them without regret. It helps us understand that what we leave behind was not meant for us. Every choice is part of what makes us unique. Even if two people’s lives seem identical, their choices set them apart and define their individuality.
The book has five chapters. The first three cover choices made during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, showing how these decisions influence our lives. The fourth chapter discusses the balance between personal and professional choices. The fifth chapter explores different perspectives on choices and how they affect decision-making.
Before starting, think of one word that defines your personality. We’ll revisit this at the end of the book. Let’s begin this journey together.
